AI Features & Photo Processing
AI Features & Photo Processing
LoomLane uses AI in a few places. This page explains where, what happens to your photographs, and what you are agreeing to when you turn these features on.
1. Where we use AI
| Feature | What it does |
|---|---|
| Virtual try-on | Generates an image showing how a saree might look on you, from a photograph you upload |
| Meera | Our styling assistant — answers questions, suggests sarees, remembers the conversation you are having |
| Search and recommendations | Understands what you are looking for, and orders what we show you |
| Saree Encyclopedia | Drafts reference entries about weaves, regions and craft, which a human curator verifies before publication |
| Seller listing help | Reads a seller's product photographs to suggest attributes like colour, weave and fabric |
2. Your photographs
This is the part that matters most, so it is the most specific.
We ask before we use them. Before your first virtual try-on we ask for your consent specifically, and record it. Try-on does not run until you give it.
Where they go. To generate a try-on image, your photograph is sent to an AI provider that produces the result. It is sent for that request and that purpose only.
Providers do not train on them. Our agreements with AI providers prohibit using your content to train or improve their models.
Who can see them. Only you, unless you deliberately share a result. Your photographs are not shown to sellers, to other members, or on any public surface.
How long we keep them. Until you delete them, or until you delete your account. You can delete an individual photograph, or an entire person profile you set up for try-on, from within the app at any time.
Children. Do not upload photographs of children. Try-on is for adults using their own likeness.
Other people. Only upload a photograph of someone else if they know and agree. It is their likeness, not yours to hand over.
3. What a try-on image actually is
A try-on image is a computer's estimate of how a fabric might drape on a body. It is generated, not photographed.
- It is not the product. Colour, texture, sheen, fall and border detail will differ from the real saree.
- It is not a fitting. It cannot tell you how a saree will feel, or how it will sit once draped by a person.
- It can be wrong. Generated images sometimes render hands, faces, borders or pallu detail oddly.
Please judge the saree by the product photographs and the description. Treat the try-on as a way of imagining, not a representation we are standing behind.
4. Meera, and other suggestions
Meera is helpful and Meera is sometimes wrong. She may describe a saree imprecisely, suggest something unsuitable, or misunderstand you. Nothing Meera says is a promise about a product, a price, availability, or an order.
Meera remembers the current conversation so she can follow context across a few messages. Your conversations are not shown to other members, and deleting your account deletes them.
Meera does not take paid placement. What she suggests is not influenced by any seller paying for it.
5. Sellers, and AI-assisted listings
Where AI suggests attributes for a seller's listing, the seller reviews and is responsible for what they publish. A suggestion is not a verification, and an AI-suggested attribute carries no more weight than the seller's own description.
6. Withdrawing consent
Removing your photographs is how you withdraw. When you delete the last photograph you hold for try-on — by deleting individual photographs, or by deleting a person profile — your consent is withdrawn and recorded as withdrawn. Try-on will then ask you afresh before it processes another photograph.
Deleting one photograph while keeping others is curating your roster, not withdrawing consent, so try-on carries on. Withdrawing is the act of holding none.
Withdrawing stops future processing. It does not un-send a request already made. Deleting your account removes everything — see the Account & Data Deletion page.
7. Your rights
Everything here sits inside the Privacy Policy, which sets out your rights under the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 — including access, correction, deletion and withdrawal of consent — and how to exercise them.
