Wallet, Gift Card & Referral Terms

Version v1.0 · Effective 15 August 2026

Wallet, Gift Card & Referral Terms

These terms cover LoomLane credit, gift cards and referral rewards. They form part of the Terms of Use.

The short version: this is credit for buying sarees on LoomLane. It is not money, not a bank balance, and not something you can withdraw to a bank account.

1. LoomLane credit

Credit is a balance in your account that reduces what you pay at checkout. One unit of credit reduces your bill by one rupee.

How credit arrives

What credit is not

Spending it

Credit applies to the order value at checkout. Where an order is paid partly with credit and partly with money, a refund returns each part to where it came from.

Some promotional credit carries conditions — a minimum order value, a category, or a cap on how much of a single order it can cover. Those conditions are shown when the credit is given and on the credit itself in the app. Refund credit carries no such cap.

If your order is cancelled or returned, credit you spent on it returns to your balance.

2. Expiry and forfeiture

3. Gift cards

A LoomLane gift card lets you fund a saree for someone and let them choose it themselves.

How it works

  1. You build a pool of sarees and pay for it.
  2. You mint gift cards against that pool. New cards are inactive.
  3. You activate cards when you are ready to hand them out — at the event, or before it.
  4. The recipient signs in with their phone, sees the sarees in the pool that can be delivered to their pincode, picks one, and gives their own delivery address.

Why cards start inactive. An activated card is funded and can be redeemed by whoever holds it. Keeping cards inactive until you hand them over means a lost or stolen card before the event is worth nothing.

Prices are hidden from recipients. A recipient sees the sarees available to them, not what you paid.

Treat an activated card like cash. We cannot tell who is holding a card. If an activated card is lost, tell us immediately and we will deactivate it if it has not yet been redeemed — but we cannot recover a redemption that has already happened.

Gift cards are not redeemable for money, cannot be exchanged for cash or bank transfer, and cannot be resold.

Unused gift value. Cards you never activate, and activated cards nobody redeems, can be cancelled and refunded to you — see §6 of the Cancellation Policy for how deductions work as the event approaches.

Recipients' rights. A recipient who redeems a card gets the same rights over that saree as any buyer — delivery, returns, refunds. A refund on a redeemed gift goes back as credit to the recipient, not to you, because the saree was theirs.

4. Referral rewards

Where a referral programme is running, its specific terms — who qualifies, what each side gets, when it is credited, any cap — are shown in the app on the referral screen. Those terms apply alongside these.

What does not qualify

We may withhold or reverse a reward obtained this way, and close the accounts involved.

We may change or end a referral programme prospectively. A reward already properly earned is not taken back.

5. Affiliate earnings are different

Members of the Business Women programme earn commission, which is a different thing from LoomLane credit: it is money, it is withdrawable to a bank account subject to identity verification, and it has tax consequences including deduction at source where the law requires.

Affiliate earnings are governed by the Affiliate Programme Terms, not by this document. Where an affiliate member chooses to convert earnings into LoomLane credit, the credit that results is governed by these terms from that point.

6. Statements and errors

Your balance and the entries behind it are visible in the app. Check them. If something looks wrong, tell us at hello@loomlane.org — we keep a full ledger and can trace any entry.

We may correct a genuine error in either direction, and we will tell you when we do and why.

7. Changes

We may change these terms. Changes are published as a new version with its own effective date and apply going forward — not to credit already properly earned or a gift card already funded.
